Health and Fitness for Entrepreneurs

As entrepreneurs, we’re constantly striving to be our best. We want success, financial freedom, and the ability to enjoy life on our terms. But there’s one key aspect that’s often overlooked in this journey—health and fitness for entrepreneurs.

Many successful entrepreneurs know that fitness for peak performance is essential for thriving in business and life. Yet, too often, health for entrepreneurs gets pushed to the backburner in the pursuit of success. The truth is, you can’t operate at your highest level in business without feeling your best, both physically and mentally.

In this blog, I’m going to show you why self-care for entrepreneurs isn’t just about looking good—it’s about self-worth, self-love, and unlocking your full potential. And I’ll share how fitness can be a game-changer for entrepreneurs who want to reach their 1% version and operate at their best, both personally and professionally.

Own Your Life: How Fitness and Health Play a Crucial Role in Your Success

You’ve most likely heard me say, “Own your life.” It’s a powerful phrase that means taking full control of your time, money, and health. Time freedom, money freedom, and health freedom are what most of us desire in life, but without health, what good is the time and money you’ve worked so hard for?

We all want to build businesses, grow our careers, and achieve financial freedom. But what’s the point if you don’t have the energy, mental clarity, or vitality to enjoy it? The truth is, health is a critically important aspect of owning your life. It’s not just about fitness for the sake of looking good—it’s about honoring your body, the vessel God has given you to fulfill your purpose and be a servant to Him and others.

The Power of Fitness for Entrepreneurs

Fitness is often seen as a luxury or something we do when we “have time.” But what if I told you that fitness is a crucial component of your business success and personal development?

For me, and for many other entrepreneurs, fitness isn’t just about getting in shape. Working out is a medicine—it’s something that clears my head, brings my emotions back to neutral, and gives me clarity. Some of my biggest ideas and life-changing opportunities have come during long runs or intense workouts. I remember coming up with the idea for EZ Pay during a long 12-15 mile run while preparing for an ultramarathon. That run sparked an idea that would eventually lead to a business generating over $100,000 a month.

If I told you that in five years, the business idea that comes to you during your workout could make you a millionaire, would you start working out today? You’d likely say yes. So, how much financial freedom and business success have you missed out on by not making fitness a priority?

Fitness isn’t just about looking good or feeling strong. It’s about unlocking the next level of your potential. Your mindset for success is sharpened when your body is at its best.

Why Fitness Drives Peak Performance

When you make fitness a priority, you’re not only investing in your health but also in your future success. Entrepreneurs who prioritize their physical health are more productive, focused, and energized. They are able to make better decisions, maintain high energy throughout the day, and ultimately, achieve better results in both business and personal life.

I’ve seen it in my own life: when I put my physical health first, my business thrives. It’s no coincidence. The two are interconnected. Mental clarity, focus, and resilience are all enhanced when your body is strong and healthy.

Fitness also provides a great opportunity for self-reflection and mental growth. When you push yourself physically, you learn how to break through barriers, stay disciplined, and maintain focus on your goals. These qualities directly translate into business success, as well as success in other areas of life.

The Silent Power of Fitness: The Spirit Speaks When You Move

When I’m working out—whether it’s running, lifting weights, or just moving my body in some way—I don’t always have headphones in. I do love my music, but sometimes working out in silence is even more powerful.

Why? Because when you’re pushing yourself physically, your mind and spirit start to open up. You might call it your inner voice, or the Holy Spirit, or whatever resonates with you. But it’s undeniable—there’s something powerful about moving your body that opens the floodgates to creativity and clarity.

In those moments, new ideas start flowing. I’ve come up with more business strategies, marketing ideas, and life-changing decisions while working out than I have sitting in front of a desk. Your body is a tool, and when it’s firing on all cylinders, your mind is too.

So, if you’re not working out regularly, you’re missing out on one of the most powerful tools for business growth and personal development. The best entrepreneurs prioritize fitness, because they know it’s directly connected to their ability to operate at a high level. Fitness and mental clarity go hand-in-hand, and you can’t expect to perform at your best in business or life if you’re not feeling your best physically.

The “I Don’t Have Time” Excuse: The Real Truth

One of the biggest excuses I hear is, “I don’t have time for fitness.” Let me tell you, that’s bullshit. It’s not that you don’t have time—it’s that it’s just not important enough to you.

Look at the most successful people around you. Whether they’re business moguls, athletes, or influential figures, there’s one common denominator—they’re fit. And they make time for their health because they understand the direct link between fitness and success.

Now, you might be thinking, “But they’re busier than I am, how do they do it?” The answer is simple: they’ve made fitness a priority, just as important as running their business. They know they can’t operate at their best when their health and fitness are neglected. They understand that the new flex is not flashy cars, private jets, or high-end watches. The new flex is having the freedom to choose—to go on spontaneous lunch dates with your spouse, to spend time with your kids when everyone else is at work, and to make decisions from a place of clarity and mental focus.

What Happens When You’re Operating at 80%, 90%, or 99%?

So, let’s say you’ve been successful without prioritizing fitness. You’ve made money, built a career, and maybe even have a great family life. But here’s the question: How much more could you accomplish if you were operating at 100%?

If you’re still running your business or performing in life at 80%, 90%, or even 99%, you’re missing out on your true potential. Imagine how much more successful you could be if your body and mind were fully aligned—if you were consistently operating at your 1%er version. It’s not just about making more money or growing your business. It’s about becoming the best possible version of yourself, in every area.

Time, Fitness and Health: The New Rich

I’m not saying that you need to spend hours in the gym or become an athlete to be successful. But if you want to build wealth, increase your financial freedom, and experience real success, you cannot neglect your health. The new flex isn’t the luxury cars or the fancy vacations. The real flex is having the freedom to choose how you spend your time because you’ve built a system of passive income and taken care of your health.

Success isn’t just about earning money—it’s about creating a life where fitness, health, financial freedom, and time all work together. The new rich understands that to be truly wealthy, you need more than just money—you need to be at your best physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Fitness: A Command to Honor God

As Christian men and women, we are called to honor God not just with our minds and spirits, but with our bodies as well. The Bible is clear on how we should treat our bodies.  There are many scriptures on this. Here are a couple:

  • 1 Corinthians 6:19-20“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

Our bodies are temples—a place where the Holy Spirit resides. Taking care of our physical health is not just about looking good or feeling better; it’s about being good stewards of what God has entrusted to us. When we honor our bodies, we’re honoring God, and that opens the door for us to serve Him and others in more powerful ways.

  • Romans 12:1“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

This scripture reminds us that offering our bodies in service to God is true worship. Fitness, then, is not just about physical health—it’s about using our bodies as a vessel for His glory and purpose.
